"The Scorn'd Woman… where did she come from? Is she really from hell?” This is a question that has plagued minds for years.
Infamously known, the proverb concerning the scorn'd woman, over the years has been link to William Shakespeare and in some minds even the Bible. But the truth is these words were taken from the play The Mourning Bride, written by the early author William Congreve in (1697)
The Mourning Bride is your usual king-orders-beheading-of-enemy-prince-upon-finding-he-is-secretly-married-to-king's-daughter-but-gets-it-himself-in-a-case-of-mistaken-identity-resulting-in-another-mistaken-identity-with-subsequent-suicide-by-poisoning-revolution-and-reunion-of-happy-lovers tragedy. The full quote reads;
"Heav'n has no rage like love to hatred turn'd
Nor Hell a fury, like a woman scorn'd."
Meaning: A woman rejected in love can be very angry and dangerous.

ReplyDeleteNothing like a scorned woman but even in the midst of the rage and hurt sometimes it's best to just leave it in God's hands bc he can do more then we ever could. Vengence is mine saith the Lord. We just have to believe that God will intervene. It does hurt and the pain is real but sometimes we just have to thank God even in a bad situation bc true colors are revealed.... A woman Scorned though yup! she isn't anything to contend with.... Watch out!!!!!!
